Why Do Light Bulbs Sometimes Explode
When bulbs explode it is usually a manufacturers defect very rare. The light bulb in my bedroom lamp just exploded and now i have glass shards everywhere and burns in the mattress and carpet.

Because these bulbs can get much hotter than their incandescent counterparts any oils on the glass bulb itself can cause the bulb to heat irregularly and explode.
Why do light bulbs sometimes explode. If you mean that you turned the fixture on and the bulb popped and burned out it s because fluorescents have a transformer that changes the voltage from 120v input to 400v 700v output. In addition the glass shards have melted and fused with th carpet so i can t even clean out all the broken glass just noticed that it s fused to my blanket also. Light bulbs don t have internal explosive materials mostly they have inert gases that cannot burn much less burn rapidly enough to explode the bulb and make the bulb parts fly apart rapidly.
The inside of a light bulb is also supposed to be vacuum sealed tightly so that no gases get into it. The leaking gas causes a pressure difference which results in the light bulb exploding. As the bulb lights there may be a negative reaction between the cold gas and the hot element.
Halogen light bulbs are the most common type of bulb to explode. Because of the constant pressure the cracks kept growing to the point where they reach critical and the glass of the bulb failed and it went boom. Most commonly light bulbs explode when manufacturers do not put enough insulation on the base of the bulb which causes the base to melt and allows the gas stored in the light bulb to leak out.
Light bulbs are made of glass and they often have a coating on the inside of the glass to modify the glow from the filament. Possibly it was lightning which can deliver several kilowatt hours to a light bulb in one millisecond even when the lamp is shut off. Always try to use a paper towel or cloth gloves.
Even when properly assembled and used though light bulbs will occasionally explode. The most common type of light bulb to explode are halogen bulbs. When an incandescent light bulb is turned on the gases inside it heat up around the element.
Now there are cases where bulbs have caused explosions bulbs get hot when broken by physical forces they can spark. When you install or change halogen light bulbs don t touch them with your hands. Not only are they hotter than incandescent light bulbs but if there is any form of oil on the light bulb that is most likely why your light bulb exploded.
Possibly a slash with a glass cutter could cause a bulb to pop at a latter time. Exposure to moisture or cold can cause a light bulb to explode. Failure of a light bulb may also be the result of tight screwing or too much electrical flow.
